If your kid plays Minecraft online, they're playing on servers — communities run by other people, with their own rules and their own risks.

What our safety ratings mean: we assess each server on moderation, chat safety, and community standards, and publish what we looked at — a rating is a signal, not a guarantee.

What we don't do:we don't take money to make a server look safer than it is, and we don't slap “100% safe” on anything.

How to use Blocktopia as a parent: start with our safety ratings, read community reviews, and check a server out yourself before your kid dives in.

Blocktopia is for ages 16 and up. We do not offer accounts to anyone under 16. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete the data — email us at [email protected].

We use self-reported age. At sign-up we ask for a date of birth and refuse accounts under 16. We do not verify identity and we do notrun ID checks. A child who enters a false date of birth won't be caught by this — so age signals on Blocktopia are a helpful guardrail, not a guarantee.

Some servers are adults-only (18+). At sign-up we record an under-18 flag for players who are 16 or 17, and we use it to gate the one door we control: a player whose account is under 18 cannot apply to join an adults-only server on Blocktopia, and an application from one cannot be approved — not by the server's staff and not by a community vote. The server's adults-only label is always visible on its page and in the directory, where you can filter to family-safe servers only.

The gate is real, but it has clear limits:

• It can't catch a player who entered a false date of birth — there is no identity check behind it.
• It only covers joins that go throughBlocktopia's application flow. Blocktopia cannot stop anyone from joining a server that is open to the public: the player types the address into the Minecraft client and never touches us.
• It cannot see whitelisting that happens outside the platform. If a server adds players from its own Discord, its own website, or by an in-game command, that player is on the list without Blocktopia ever knowing their age. Our plugin does not block joins; the server's own whitelist and staff run its door.
• It does not moderate what happens inside any server. Each server sets and enforces its own rules.

In short: on an adults-only server, the age gate holds for players who join the Blocktopia way. Whether the owner also keeps the other doors closed is up to the owner, and we ask you to judge a server by how it runs, not by the label alone.

Under the GDPR, 16 is the digital-consent age in Germany. A player aged 16 or older is the data subject for their own account: they hold the rights to access, correct, export, or delete it, and they exercise those rights themselves. We do not hand a player's account, data, or login over to anyone else — including a parent — on request. See how those rights work in our privacy policy.

If you believe an account belongs to someone under 16, email [email protected]. Blocktopia is 16+, so we'll look into it and close the account and delete its data if it's under-age. We answer parent emails first.

Blocktopia gives you clear safety labels and an under-18 flag — but online play still needs a parent or guardian. Supervision of a minor's play remains the responsibility of their parent or guardian. Please decide what kind of server is right for your child, and check in on how they play.
