New Admin Stuff Just Dropped (It's a Lot)
July 14, 2026 · Blocktopia
Let's be honest about what running a server actually looks like.
It's 11 PM. You're supposed to be playing. Instead you're wrestling a website builder you pay too much for, answering "can my friend join?" DMs, and squinting at a Google Sheet trying to work out whether someone actually applied or just said they did. Somewhere in your Discord, a bug report from four days ago sits unclaimed.
Your friends are online. You are doing admin.
We run servers too — so we got tired of it too. And here's the thing: none of that work is junk. It's the invisible work that keeps a community alive. Nobody logs in to admire your ticket queue, but the server dies without it. It's the job your players need, not the one anyone dreams of.
So we've quietly built all of it into one place — your server's management dashboard — and it's ready.
Grab a coffee. Here's what's in the chest.
TL;DR — Content Studio: pages, blog, events, FAQ & rules in one editor · Forums for every server, free and never paywalled · Support Tickets that finally retire "just DM a mod" · custom join Applications you can hand to approvers, a member vote, or a trusted group · real Staff accounts + reusable User Groups · live server stats straight from the plugin. And yes — Discord is coming (not yet, but close).
Pages, blog, rules, events — one editor for all of it
Your rules live on one platform. Your announcements on another. Your events in a Discord pin from March that nobody scrolls back to.
Content Studio fixes that. Pages, Blog, Events, FAQ, and Rules — all written and published from the same editor. Draft your Season 5 post at midnight, sit on it, hit publish when the server's actually ready.
The annoying small stuff is just there now:
- Per-page SEO — every page gets its own title, description, and metadata. When someone googles a server like yours, they find your words.
- Custom navigation — arrange your menu the way your community actually moves through it.
- Showcase — a home for your best builds and biggest moments.
- Events — published where players will actually find them.
Your community gets a real home
Every server now gets its own Forums.
Free. Not "free tier" free — actually free, never paywalled. Some of us remember the platforms that started free and then held our communities hostage. We're not doing that.
Your forum, your threads, your people — right next to your server, where they belong.
And Support Tickets, because "just DM a mod" was never a system. It was a coping mechanism. Now players get a real front door to your staff, reports get claimed and closed instead of dying in scrollback, and nobody has to be the person whose DMs are the help desk.
Applications that don't live in a spreadsheet
If you run a whitelist, you know the drill. Here's how it changes:
The old drillThe new drillA Google Form nobody quite ownsA form you build — short & long text, yes/no, single & multi-choice, agreements"Did anyone check apps this week?"A clean review queue that actually gets workedA spreadsheet you cross-reference by handOne shareable Join your server link that is the whole funnelA great player gets bored waiting and leavesApplicants see exactly where they stand, start to finish
Build your form. Ask about playstyle and timezone. Make them actually tick "I read the rules." Leave room for "have you ever been banned, and would you like to tell us an amusing lie about it."
Share one link. Players get a clean Join <your server> page. That's it.
Then decide how your server decides:
- Approvers decide — the classic. Applications land in a review queue; your approver staff accept or reject each one. Clean, fast, mod-run.
- Members vote — everyone who plays on your server gets a vote, tallied when voting closes. The community literally chooses who joins it. Your server, run like a village.
- A trusted group decides — pick a User Group, your council of regulars, and they vote. You set the threshold, so you decide what "yes" takes.
The boring-but-important knobs are all here too:
- A custom approval message for the newly accepted — connect details, rules link, "welcome, don't touch Dave's farm."
- A default rejection reason your reviewers can override.
- A reapply cooldown, so a "no" isn't a forever-no.
- A minimum account age, to keep the freshly-made-alt crowd at the door.
Applicants see where they stand the whole way through, and you flip applications open or closed whenever you feel like it.
The spreadsheet is free. Go delete it. It'll feel great.
Bring your mods in
You shouldn't be the only one holding the keys.
Add real accounts as server staff — starting with Application approvers — managed per-server, so your co-admin can clear the queue while you're asleep.
User Groups let you name and reuse sets of accounts: your mod team, your builders, your day-one players. Use them to grant access, organize your community, or hand them the vote on applications. Letting someone in becomes a team call instead of a you-at-midnight call.
Your server has a pulse. Now you can watch it.
"is the server lagging?"
Every admin knows that message. And every admin knows the ritual that follows: alt-tab, SSH in, squint at the console, type /tps, report back to chat like a weather station.
Install the Blocktopia plugin and that ritual dies. Your server streams its vitals straight to your dashboard — live, as in seconds-ago live:
- TPS and MSPT — flat line at 20? It's not the server, it's their Wi-Fi. And now you've got the chart to prove it.
- Players online, uptime, memory — one glance, full picture, no SSH.
That's the health. Then there's the life:
Hours played. Blocks placed and broken. Mobs slain. Distance travelled. Achievements earned, quests done. Active players per day, new players per day — so when your Season 5 announcement drops, you don't wonder whether it landed. You watch it land, bar by bar.
And the most-active-players board finally reveals who quietly put in 400-plus hours and shifted well past 300,000 blocks without ever saying a word in chat.
You know the one. Every server has one. Now they get their flowers.
Last hour, six hours, day, week — flip the range as you like. And it stays your business: your stats are visible only to you and your server's staff, never the public, never other servers.
And yes — Discord is coming
We know, we know. Your community lives on Discord between sessions, and you want Blocktopia talking to it.
It's in the works: connect your own Discord server, get notifications and interactions where your players already hang out. It's not out yet — we're not going to pretend it is — but it's close. You'll hear about it here first.
Go poke around
It's all live in your server's management dashboard, right now, tonight. Head in, kick the tires, break something, tell us about it — you've got forums for exactly that.
If your server isn't on Blocktopia yet, add it and stop duct-taping five platforms together.
Now go actually play. That was the whole point, remember?
